Storm Water Runoff Programs

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston strives to prevent water pollution to our bayous and bays. Storm water pollution generally consist of sediment, oil, and litter which the Environmental Protection Program has implemented controls, including facility grounds surveys which stress sediment and liter control, and the implementation of a Storm Water Quality Management Permit (SWQMP) and Program for the New Student Housing addition. Our SWQMP includes provisions for litter control, landscaping practices, storm drain stenciling, storm water retention, and structural controls. The SWQMP is renewed and inspected by the City of Houston on an annual basis.
