Fire & Life Safety Emergency Preparedness Program

The mission of the Fire and Life Safety Program is to provide support to The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston students and personnel concerning the recognition, evaluation, and control of physical hazards. Support is provided to the Fire and Life Safety Committee
in the form of facility safety audits, fire protection, occupational hazards monitoring, responding
to incidents, and performing incident investigations.

Hazardous Material and Secondary Containment

Although these safety tips are being published to assist faculty and employees working in laboratories, they can be applied to any situation where a person is transporting items through a self-closing door.  Self-closing doors are being installed in all of our new buildings, including Medical School Expansion and Biomedical Research Expansion Facility.
