About our Program
The UT Houston Family Medicine Residency Program is a 12-12-12 university-based program in the Texas Medical Center. Our residents rotate primarily through LBJ Community Hospital in the Harris County Hospital District and Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Our continuity clinics are located across Houston: centrally, in the UT Professional Building, northwest in the Acres Home Community Clinic, and northeast in the Aldine Community Clinic. Our mission is to train the best family physicians for the future. We strive to train family physicians with the skills to care for the whole person, their family and community. We provide service to patients of diverse cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds, teaching the residents to treat all patients with dignity regardless of their patient's background.
The experience in this university setting allows the physician to learn negotiation and administrative skills that will allow them to facilitate teams throughout their career.
Our community health venues promote patient advocacy, so residents are constantly aware of their impact in their community.
The diversity and flexibility of the educational experience at the UT Houston Family Medicine Residency provides the future Family Physician with the knowledge and skills to succeed in his or her career, regardless of the path they choose to follow.
