Dr. Kantharia is a graduate of Seth G S Medical College, University of Mumbai (Bombay), India. He received further graduate and postgraduate training in medicine and cardiology in the United Kingdom and the United States, including fellowship training in Cardiac Electrophysiology from the Hahnemann/MCP Allegheny University Hospitals, Philadelphia. Prior to joining our faculty, he served on the faculty of the Drexel University College of Medicine, Albert Einstein Medical Center and at the Ohio State University as Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratories and Director of the Electrophysiology Fellowship Program. Dr. Kantharia is an ABIM certified Cardiac Electrophysiologist.
Dr. Kantharia is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of London, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the Royal Society of Medicine of the United Kingdom, the European Society of Cardiology, and the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the Heart Rhythm Society.
His special areas of interest and expertise include non-pharmacological therapies including ablation for atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and complex arrhythmias; and implantation of heart rhythm management devices including bi-ventricular defibrillators.
His research interests include arrhythmia mechanisms and clinical trials evaluating new pharmacological agents, designs of catheters, devices and mapping systems.
Dr. Kantharia is the author of over 150 original articles, abstracts, reviews, and book chapters.
