The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism has broad interests in clinical care, education, and research. The individual faculty have been recognized for their clinical care with academic awards as well as in publications such as “SuperDocs” in Houston Monthly. The UT Diabetes and Endocrinology clinic is located in the UT Professional Building and sees over 4000 patients/year. The comprehensive care program includes insulin pump management with capability to download pumps, meters, and glucose sensors. We have specialized services for endocrine disorders such as a Metabolic Bone Clinic with Bone density measurements available on site, Reproductive Endocrinology Clinic, and Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy. We offer thyroid ultrasounds and fine needle aspiration in the clinic for care of patients with thyroid disorders. The Division also staffs LBJ General Hospital and Quentin Meese Endocrinology Clinic and has an active clinic where thyroid ultrasounds and fine needle aspirations are performed, in addition to general endocrine care.

The Division is active in both undergraduate and graduate medical education. The faculty participate in several basic science courses, and offer electives to 3rd and 4th year medical students in Adult Endocrinology and Reproductive Endocrinology. The faculty participate in the Medicine Residency Program and the Division offers a 2 year ACGME accredited Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Fellowship, with options for additional post-doctoral training.
