2012-2013 Fellowship Applications: The UT Houston GI Fellowship ERAS application deadline was December 31, 2010. All applications were completely reviewed by the UT GI Fellowship Interview Selection Committee. Invitations for interviews were sent in early January 2011.
Candidates for the gastroenterology fellowship training program must complete three years of internal medicine residency in an ACGME accredited program and be United States citizens, permanent residents or hold a J1 Visa. H1B visas are not sponsored by this institution for graduate medical education.
ERAS & NRMP: The University of Texas at Houston Medical School at Houston fellowship in clinical gastroenterology participates in the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The UT GI Program is a three-year clinical fellowship with research. First-year fellows are accepted to the program each year. Each fellow will have a basic core curriculum involving rotations at each of the affiliated facilities. Fellows, with a faculty mentor, are expected to participate in clinical research, basic research, or other scholarly activities. At the conclusion of the three-year fellowship training, the fellow will be a fully trained gastroenterologist who will be able to diagnose, treat, and manage all forms of gastrointestinal and liver disease and will be able to practice competently and independently in the field of gastroenterology.
