Medical Genetics Core Lab
In 2000, the Clinical Research Center (CRC) launched a DNA core laboratory at University of Texas Medical School. The CRC DNA core lab is a sophisticated, centralized, efficient, low-cost resource for providing molecular technology and expertise on genetic research to clinical researchers investigating a variety genetic defects.
The CRC DNA core lab also collaborates with other research entities such as the TexGen project to provide biological materials (blood and tissue) and clinical data over the lifespan of the patient.
The CRC DNA core lab has been equipped with advanced devices to collect,
detect, store and analyze research data. As new technologies emerge, it will be integrated to satisfy the requirements of research investigators.
