Looking for a Ph.D program?
The Medical Genetics Division currently has a Ph.D program in genetic area. The research projects focus on genetic defect diseases such as Marfan syndrome, Aortic aneurysm, Congential Contractual Arachnodacyl, Scleroderma and Cerebral Aneurysms. You will join a team that consists of experienced professors and staff using advanced equipment such as PSQ96 Pyrosequencing and ABI Sequencing Analyzers. The program will provide an environment that will lead you to success. For more information, please visit Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences , University of Texas Health Science Center.

Post-doctoral Program in Medical Genetics
The division provides post-doctoral program with challenging research projects. The projects involve in the genetic defect diseases such as Marfan syndrome, Aortic aneurysms, Congential Contractual Arachnodacyl, Scleroderma and Intracranial Aneurysms. A stronge team will advice and assist post-doctors to get proper training in genetic research with molecular biological and bioinformatics skills.

Ph.D. Program
The goal of the Ph.D. program is to teach students how to approach and solve research problems in Medical Genetics. This challenging program is designed to provide a nurturing environment in which graduate students can fully develop and express their intellectual, research talents, and teaching abilities.
We do this by developing students' skills in modern methods of molecular biology, their ability to appraise the scientific literature and make scientific judgments, to be self-confident and skillful in communicating research results and ultimately to function as independent creative researchers.
The program has been designed to have several steps. In the first year, the students begin a series of laboratory rotations. Rotations allow students to experience the intellectual and social atmosphere and become familiar with various experimental approaches and techniques. Such research experiences provide exposure and training in the diverse research interests of our faculty, and have proven valuable to students in their selection of a thesis research advisor after the first year. By the end of second year, the students have had an opportunity with their advisor to define a thesis project and The Thesis Advisory Committee guides the student towards successful completion of his or her thesis research. For detail information, please see UTHSC GSBS web site.

Summer Research Program
The Division of Medical Genetics offers a summer program for students interested in the field of research. The purpose of this program is to:
-
introduce students to scientific and clinical research
-
integrate classroom knowledge with hands-on skills
-
provide a starting point for those who plan to pursue a career in sciences
The program is open to college students who are majoring in pre-med, biology, chemistry, or other science-related fields. To apply, please submit your application to: UT Summer Research Program.
