FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Each year the Division of Infectious Diseases, jointly with MD Anderson Cancer Center, offers ACGME accredited fellowship training which includes a broad exposure to the complete spectrum of infectious diseases and the opportunity for investigation ranging from basic research to clinical studies conducted in hospitals or field stations in the United States and abroad.
Two ACGME accredited fellowship tracks are available:
   1. The traditional infectious diseases track.
       12 months clinical
       9 months at Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center or Lyndon
          Baines Johnson Hospital
       3 months at MD Anderson Cancer Center
       12 months research
   2. The immunocompromised host track.
       12 months clinical
       3 months at Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center or Lyndon
          Baines Johnson Hospital
       9 months at MD Anderson Cancer Center
       12 months research
     The fellowship program is designed to prepare trainees for academic careers and/or for infectious disease practice. Pathways are available for clinicians, clinical researchers and basic researchers. Together with faculty at the University of Texas School of Public Health, a combined Infectious Disease/Master of Public Health degree fellowship program is possible.

In addition to the ACGME accredited fellowship a one year fellowship in HIV medicine is also offered.
