  • Second ThursdayM&M with Trauma and 1 Neuro ICU case : The ICU case discussed will be chosen by Dr. Aisiku.
  • Third ThursdayProfessionalism and Systems-Based Practice: Invited talks from professionals and experts in law, hospital administration, human resources, and other allied fields. Topics will include: risk management, professionalisms in the workplace, ethics in neurosurgery, national regulatory bodies and laws, billing compliance, and insurance issues.
  • Fourth ThursdayM&M - Neuro cases and 1 Neuro ICU case : Presented by Dr. Tandon, with the ICU case chosen by Dr. Aisiku.
  • Fifth ThursdayResident Evidence Review and Journal Club: On months with a fifth Thursday (i.e. about four times per year), the PGY 2, 3, 4, and 5 residents will be asked to present didactic lectures representing a comprehensive update and systematic review of recent literature related to a topic selected by the resident with the assistance of the program director. Each resident will prepare one presentation per year. It is expected that the resident will prepare audiovisual materials, a bibliography, and a brief written synthesis which describes how the information gathered impacts on neurosurgical patient care. The resident will be expected to perform a systematic review of the pertinent literature using the resources available (largely through the HAM-TMC Library) and describe the methods for assessing the findings, and implementing applicable applications to our actual practice. Both the analysis and the presentation style will be evaluated to assist in the resident's improvement.
