Hospitals

The Residency Program involves training at a variety of hospitals and provides for a diverse patient load with interesting clinical cases. Each hospital provides a unique experience which enhances the overall educational aspects of each clinical rotation. Two of these hospitals are located within the Texas Medical Center (link). LBJ is a community hospital located in Harris County which is a 20 minute drive from the medical center.

These hospital systems include:

Generally, all hematology/oncology rotations are at MD Anderson, and consult rotations and general medicine wards can be either at MHH or LBJ. On internal medicine, ER rotations are only at LBJ, while on Pediatrics, residents rotate through the Hermann ER during their PGY-2 year and have a supervisory role at LBJ ER during their PGY-4 year. In pediatrics, supervisory role in the wards typically occurs at MHH for the Med/Peds resident, and they serve as night float at LBJ. Both the internal medicine wards at LBJ and Hermann provide a great intellectual experience.
