and Gifts to the Department Generous contributors have donated funds to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Established to provide support for a lectureship designated by the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry. This lectureship has provided UT with some of the most distinguished speakers in the filed of Neuropsychiatry. William D. Guynn and Helen L. Guynn Research Scholarship Fund This research and education scholarship fund was established in the memory of William D. Guynn and Helen L. Guynn. David Mendell, M.D. Endowed Fellowship This fellowship was established by a Houston family to honor Dr. David Mendell, a well-known and respected family therapist in our community. The purpose of this endowment is to promote training in family therapy. Currently the honored endowment fellow is Jennifer McKay, M.D., a second year child psychiatry fellow studying family therapy and systems theory. The Pat Rutherford endowed chair in psychiatry was made possible by a generous donation in support of ongoing care in the area of geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Alan Swann is currently the honored holder of this chair. Previously, Dr. Louis Faillace held the chair. Dr. Bernard Salzberg Research Scholarship Fund The Dr. Bernard Salzberg Research Scholarship Fund was established by Mrs. Salzburg in memory of her husband, Dr. Bernard Salzberg. Dr. Salzberg, a former professor in the department, was well known for his work in signal analysis. The award is to support the hiring of a summer student in our Neurosignaling Laboratory.
