University of Texas Houston Interactive Video is a division of the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston Office of Academic Computing. This department is dedicated to implementing and expanding the use of high speed Videoconferencing and Streaming Multimedia in Health Education.

In 1999 and 1998, UTH-IV recieved a grant from the Telecommunication Infrastructure Fund and purchased 20 Intel Teamstations. The Teamstations were placed in community health clinics and hospitals throughout the city of Houston and surrounding areas.

Our use of the Teamstations is not limited to simple videoconferencing. We pushed the limit of the technology by using the equipment for medical interviewing, medical grand rounds, medical school class lectures, and research conferencing w/document collaboration. In addition, UTH-IV provides access to streaming video of these events.
