Introduction to the
Scriptorium Textbook

This textbook is designed as a guide to the UT-Houston family in addressing issues relating to the creation, design, publication and ownership of multimedia learningware and web published information pages. This is truly a "work in progress." Since applicable technologies, standards, and policies are changing constantly, so might the information placed here. We hope to continue to feed new information into the textbook as issues arise.

It is our intent to teach that the creation of learning resources is not the same as just being able to save a document as HTML. There are educational principles that must apply to learning resources. There are also concepts that should be learned about graphics, design considerations, types of learners, and more. If it is your intent (or that of your group, lab or department) to create quality learning resources, you should take time to read and learn from this text.

Note:All of the chapters in this text are linked for easy movement from one chapter to another.
