United to Serve 2012: UTHealth Leads the Fight Against Hunger

The tradition continues this year with our seventh annual UTHealth United to Serve volunteer project! The students, faculty, and staff at UTHealth will partner with the Houston Food Bank (HFB) for our 2012 United to Serve project.  The Houston Food Bank was founded in 1982, and has, for more than 25 years, fed the hungry by distributing 70 million pounds of food each year to nearly 500 hunger relief agencies in 18 counties in southeast Texas. In addition to distributing food and other needed supplies, the HFB provides nutrition education and job training. And, the HFB feeds children who might not otherwise get a nourishing hot meal during the day. [read more]
