Local SIGHT Initiatives
The UT-Houston chapter of SIGHT recognizes that building a relationship with the medically underserved population locally is the necessary medium to learn the real needs of America’s global community. Thus, we are dedicated to creating and implementing community-based projects to help break down the barriers that prevent citizens from receiving healthcare and to help eradicate cyclical poverty.
In 2008 we are collaborating with The Forge, a faith-based organization committed to improving personal and family development within Houston’s Third Ward through activities and workshops. Our chapter of SIGHT is proud to contribute a series of four workshops (Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease, Tobacco and Lung Cancer, Diabetes, and Nutrition and Healthy Cooking) focused on the community’s most prominent health problems.
