Provide leadership and advance scholarship in biomedical sciences, health professions, health promotion, public health policy and health care delivery

Objective 4
Emphasize faculty development (mentoring of junior faculty)

  • Each school is to implement faculty mentoring programs.
  • The required annual faculty review process is to serve as a mechanism for faculty self-evaluation and subsequent review and counseling by departmental and school leaders.
  • Continue to offer the Academic and Administrative Leadership Development Program (AALDP) administered by the UTHSC-H Office of Academic Affairs to provide advanced leadership training for faculty seeking to advance into leadership positions.
  • Encourage faculty participation in new investigator initiatives (i.e., STAR awards, Howard Hughes Medical Investigator award) as a means to fund faculty lines.
  • Encourage faculty participation in the U. T. System Academy of Health Science Education and local campus Academies.
