Strategic Planning & Institutional Analysis

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
Strategic Directions 2007-2013

Strategic Direction 6
Maintain and enhance strategic alliances

One of the health science center’s primary strengths is its great number of affiliations, partnerships and collaborative endeavors. The timing is right to turn this into a competitive advantage, particularly during a period of intense competition for increasingly scarce federal, state and local dollars. The health science center is obligated to educate and train competent health care professionals and scientists, perform research aimed at understanding and preventing disease, and then take this understanding back to the patient -- and the student -- in the course of care. Continuing to tap into the strengths and expertise of other institutions will raise the health science center’s standing and improve its ability to fulfill the core mission.

Objective 3
Strengthen cooperative public health program alliances between the regional campuses and their host campuses
