- Wild Ones: Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grants: The Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program gives small monetary grants to schools, nature centers, or other non-profit educational organizations for the purpose of establishing outdoor learning centers. Funds will be provided only for the purchase of native plants and seed. Maximum award: varies. Eligibility: schools, nature centers, and other non-profit and not-for-profit places of learning, including houses of worship with a site available for this stewardship project. - Grant Writing Training for Head Start Programs: J Walker Enterprises is presenting a Grant Writing Training Session for Head Start Programs. This training is centered on the concept of creating multiple funding streams for your agency. The training will be held December 2,3 & 4, 2009 in Houston, TX. - Tylenol: The Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children's Tylenol National Child Care Teacher Awards
The Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children's Tylenol National Child Care Teacher Awards acknowledge the critical role of childcare teachers in providing quality early care and education. Applicants are asked to design an enhancement project for the children in their classroom illustrating the educational, social, and emotional benefits from the project. Maximum award: $1,000. Eligibility: teachers of infant, toddler, or preschool age children employed in a home, group, or center-based program that is fully compliant with local and state regulations for operating child care programs. - ING: Unsung Heroes Awards: The ING Unsung Heroes Awards program recognizes innovative and progressive thinking in education through monetary awards. Maximum award: $25,000. Eligibility: full-time educators, teachers, principals, paraprofessionals, or classified staff members with effective projects that improve student learning at an accredited K-12 public or private school. - HAEYC Scholarship Opportunities: The Houston Area Association for the Education of Young Children offers scholarships for child care facilities that are in the process of seeking NAEYC accreditation. More information available at www.haaeyc.org
- Reading Conference Travel Grants: Bruce Larkin, the published author of over four hundred early children’s books, is pleased to announce IRA & RR Reading Conference Grants. A large number of grants will be made available to help fund expenses for selected early literacy professionals (grades K-3) attending International Reading Association or Reading Recovery conferences. Bruce Larkin will award five hundred (500) grants each school year, up to a maximum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) each, to help offset expenses incurred attending these valuable conferences. Time for review of applications is required in advance of the conference, so educators should complete this form as soon as possible. Click here for an application.
- Mini-grants for Public Schools and Public Libraries: Ezra Jack Keats Mini-grant Program for Public Schools and Public Libraries supports educators, parents and children in their efforts to spread literacy and love of learning. - NEA Grants: The National Education Association offers several grants. To view and apply, please visit www.neafoundation.org.
- The American Honda Foundation: Grants are provided in the fields of youth education and science education to the following: educational institutions, K-12; accredited higher education institutions (colleges and universities); community colleges and vocational or trade schools. AHF has modified its grant proposal range from $20,000 to $60,000 per organization to allow the AHF to support more nonprofits.
