If a patient meets the eligibility requirements and is enrolled in one of the approved protocols, the cost of the hyperthermia treatment is borne by the University Clinical Research Unit. The patient and/or insurance is responsible for the cost of chemotherapy and for the tests administered to determine eligibility for treatment. Many of these preliminary tests are required in any case, and coverage by insurance is usually approved.
