THE MISSION

The Mission of the Maintenance Department is to ensure reliability of facilities through total productive maintenance.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Manager of Maintenance is Mr. Sam B. Samuel (x 2474). The maintenance department is comprised of building technicians, a 24 hour 7 days a week work control team and a contract team that supervises housekeeping, pest control, landscaping, waste management, and rental storage space at OCB and UCT only. The Fixit hot line (x 3498) receives all calls and dispatches work orders received to the proper teams.

Building technicians are responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and repairs of existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural deficiencies. They ensure that all UTHSC-H Facilities are safe and mechanically reliable. The preventative maintenance program ensures reliability of all UT facilities through total productive maintenance.

The work control team is responsible and accountable for evening, weekends and holidays which amount to more than 4000 hours/year. Operators monitor continuously and respond to all critical calls campus wide. They communicate to the maintenance team to remedy repair to all systems immediately.

There are no direct costs to building occupants for routine maintenance. For renovation work and office reconfigurations project managers are assigned and the customer is normally responsible for funding.
