POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides professional work
involving planning and coordinating the installation, maintenance, operation,
and repair of electrical, air handling, and refrigeration systems throughout
the Health Science Center complex.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Designs electrical systems/equipment
to provide a useful and safe workplace.

Devises and outlines maintenance
procedures for electrical systems/equipment to ensure maximum service life
and utilization.

Advises requesting departments
regarding systems/requirements available to meet their needs and comply
with safety codes.

Monitors installation of designed
equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety
codes.

Responds to departmental requests
for changes in existing systems/equipments to modify/enhance the system/equipment
to obtain desired results in a safe and cost effective manner.

Determines which systems will
satisfy the client’s needs and determines the specifications to show how
the systems will be utilized.

Confers with personnel from
Crafts & Trades to receive input on existing systems and practices
as well as possible alternatives to using existing conditions and equipment.

Consults with clients from various
departments to determine their need for space improvement and within the
standards of the Health Science Center.

Provides preliminary drawings
and/or samples to clients for selection and approval.

Reviews existing electrical
designs and specifications being purchased or fabricated. Assistance is
provided for existing facilities, electrical estimations for equipment
and construction as well as modifications for mechanical and plumbing designs.

Provides requested services
while meeting safety codes, specifications and budgetary limitations. Ensures
the new systems are compatible with existing systems and operate without
causing an overload.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Registered Professional Engineer.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical
engineering, digital electronics or equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Three years experience in
the design, installation and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of
force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or
up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
