| ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | |
| Required......... | Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to:
Receives, processes and checks merchandise and verifies the correctness of the shipment against the purchase order. Prepares forms and maintains records dealing with discrepancies and damaged merchandise. Prepares shipments for return to vendors, delivers shipments to recipients, and picks up shipments from departments that need to be returned. Places Health Science Center tags or inventory tags on equipment received. |
| DUTIES | |
| Typical........... | This position exists within the shipping and receiving warehouse. Merchandise ordered by Health Science Center departments is received; unloaded and stored; processed and verified; prepared for return; and delivered to the proper department.
In the course of performing the duties of this position, the incumbent has regular contact with departmental personnel regarding the status of merchandise ordered and for delivering and picking up merchandise. Also the incumbent has contact with the vendors and delivery drivers regarding shipment discrepancies. The Stores Clerk II reports to the Receiving Supervisor and receives guidance regarding policy from the Warehouse Supervisor. The incumbent unloads incoming shipments, checks that the correct and complete order has been received, places inventory or HSC tags on all items of equipment, and makes deliveries to the appropriate departments. If there is a discrepancy, the proper paperwork must be prepared and/or a call made to the vendor. The incumbent receives work instruction from the supervisor and refers problems to the supervisor. The incumbent cannot change policy or procedures without permission from the supervisor. The Stores Clerk II must be very accurate because the result of mistakes could be damaging to medical research, costly to remedy, or could cause harm to fellow workers. A second quality the incumbent must possess is alertness with regard to safety procedures and hazardous materials. May perform other duties as assigned. |

| Required.......... | Six months experience in receiving, storing, and distributing supplies and equipment in a diversified warehouse. |
| Preferred...... | One to two years experience in Storekeeping. |

| Required.......... | Lifts, scales, hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment used in warehouse activities. |
| WORKING CONDITIONS | |
| Usual............ | The working environment is dusty, noisy, dirty and has unpleasant odors from garbage, fumes and chemicals. |
| PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS | |
| Usual............ | The incumbent is required to lift weights manually or by forklift. Because of the danger involved in lifting weights, safety shoes are worn to protect toes. The incumbent also is required to bend, stoop, climb, and pull in unloading trucks, stacking shipments, and delivering the merchandise.
In exercising these functions the incumbent must be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. |
