POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for development, implementation, oversight and monitoring of the general institutional compliance program to assure appropriate risk management. The general institutional compliance program consists of the seven essential components of a model compliance program as designated by federal guidelines. Promotes prevention, detection and resolution of conduct that does not conform to federal and state law and regulations, and federal, state and private payer health care program requirements, as well as the ethical and business policies of The University of Texas System and UT-Houston. 

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Designs, develops, implements and evaluates the general institutional compliance program. Monitors program implementation. Revises the general institutional compliance program in response to changing needs.
  2. Develops policies, procedures and programs to develop and maintain an environment of compliance and encourage employees to identify potential problems/concerns and report them to Institutional Compliance Office.
  3. Plans, develops, implements and evaluates the general institutional compliance program and related education and training activities to promote an institutional culture favorable to compliance.
  4. Designs, develops content and delivers the general institutional compliance training programs. Coordinates with other UT-Houston units/departments/functional areas to develop an awareness of compliance with applicable federal and state standards among institutional employees as well as independent contractors and agents.
  5. Works with the Office of Legal Affairs and other resources to keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations that impact compliance. Makes changes in the general institutional compliance program as needed.
  6. Interacts with schools and departments to ensure the general institutional compliance program is established and monitored appropriately by the schools/departments.
  7. Maintains detailed compliance-related records.
  8. As the first contact, manages the confidential general institutional compliance reporting systems, such as the Hot Line and confidential e-mails. Administers the intake, review, investigation and resolution of non-compliance allegations.
  9. Identifies functions and business practices requiring general institutional compliance initiatives.
  10. Independently investigates, reports and coordinates matters related to general institutional compliance. Reviews documents and records. Submits written reports to the appropriate authority, including the Chief Compliance Officer. Makes recommendations for corrective action.
  11. Prepares reports for the Institutional Compliance Committee.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical skills. Detail oriented.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelors’ degree

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Fours years directly related experience such as compliance, legal, auditing or healthcare management. Experience must include: Statutory and regulatory analysis and implementation, and program development and delivery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently to move objects.
