| Scope............ | This position is responsible to assist in the operation of a large telephone switchboard and to perform related clerical duties. Responsible for routing all incoming and outgoing telephone calls placed through the switchboard. |

| ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | |
| Required......... | Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to:
Assists callers in routing all incoming and outgoing telephones calls and assists in toll calls. Operates the institutional paging system. Performs clerical related duties. |
| DUTIES | |
| Typical........... | The incumbent will have frequent telephone contact with the public in disposing of incoming and outgoing calls placed through the switchboard and in answering questions regarding personnel and departments.
The incumbent assists callers in determining the proper office or person with whom they wish to talk and assists in toll calls where speed and accuracy are essential. In addition, the incumbent operates the institutional paging system in the absence of the paging operator. May perform other duties as assigned. |

| Usual............ | The Switchboard Operator II works in an office environment with limited physical effort or safety hazards. |
| PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS | |
| Usual............ | In exercising these functions the incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move object. |
