POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for designing,
implementing and monitoring the IT security program with a focus on identifying
network vulnerabilities of routine to difficult complexity and then designing,
planning and executing solutions to continuously improve the security of
the entire UTHSC-H information technology network infrastructure.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develops technical security
standards to support policies including assisting in creating and coordinating
monitoring standards and incident investigation procedures.

Provides technical assistance
in the selection, configuration, and maintenance of WAN/LAN network security
devices such as firewalls, VPNs and Intrusion Detection Systems of routine
to difficult complexity.

Serves as expert technical resource
in advising and assisting all departments in network security issues, proactively
and reactively.

Develops, implements and maintains
the IT security awareness and training program.

Performs periodic network security
assessments and reviews for evidence of vulnerability or compromise and
assist or coordinate implementation of security solutions for all levels
of complexity. Tracks resolution of findings and prepares reports.

Performs network security testing,
network penetration and network security compliance auditing and assist
or coordinate implementation of security solutions of routine to difficult
complexity. Tracks resolution of findings and prepares reports.

Responds to IT network security
incidents, providing initial assessment of impact severity and types of
incidences being addressed, and provides central leadership and coordination
for critical or serious incidents. Keeps incident tracking system up-to-date.

Presents to LAN managers, IT
Security Team, IS management and executive management on IT security issues,
recommends solutions and the timeline and implementation of the security
solutions.

Perform other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Preferred: Certification
in network technology or information security (CNA, CCNA, CISA, CISSP,
etc.)
Skills: Ability to configure
and administer network devices (routers, firewalls, switches, etc.), working
knowledge of Unix, Windows NT, Novell, Cisco, e-mail applications, DNS
and TCP/IP.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree, formal
training in information technology security and networks.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Five years minimum experience
consisting of network related work experience, operating system administration
and project management. Experience with the network hardware, software
and security tools that UTHSC-H has deployed in its information technology
infrastructure is preferred.
