POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans and manages the operations
and support of Auxiliary Enterprises at UTHSC, including but not limited
to, Bookstore Medical School, Bookstore Dental Branch, Child Development
Center, Food Service, Mail Service, Parking Services, Printing Services,
Recreation Center, Remodeling Services, Shuttle Services, Stores, University
Housing, University Travel, and fiscal aspects of Student and Employee
Health. Markets the Red Duke Health Report. Maintains the student
government fees and administrates the American Express Corporate Card.
Develops and recommends operating budgets and profit plans, where appropriate.
Monitors expenditures and initiate corrective action as required controlling
costs and ensuring that projected return on investment is achieved.
Ensures that the pricing structure of goods and services sold is both competitive
and profitable. Interacts with faculty and staff at all levels and
with students on all matters involving present or planned projects of Auxiliary
Enterprises.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Organizes and structures supporting
functions and selects, develops, evaluates and rewards key managerial personnel
to assure a high level of productivity and assure the best use of individual
and group capabilities.

Develops and recommends operating
budgets and profit plans, where appropriate, monitors expenditures and
initiates corrective action as may be required in order to control costs
and ensures that the planned return on investment is achieved.

Ensures that the purchasing,
receiving, pricing, inventory, cash, credit card, and membership dues are
properly handled to ensure compliance with the procedures established by
Auditing and Advisory Services.

Plans new and/or expanded auxiliary
enterprises, interfaces with the U.T. System Office of Facilities Planning
and Construction (OFPC) when necessary, contractors and other agencies
in their development and implementation to assure that projects are completed
on schedule within the estimated cost.

Confers with Directors of Medical
And Dental Bookstore to ensure full support of the academic programs of
the University and monitors the Bookstore Financial Reports for adequate
profitability of the operation.

Directs the management of the
University Child Development Center to ensure quality education and care
within a safe and healthy environment and applicable licensing standards.

Oversees the non-medical administrative
function in the University Health Care Center to ensure a high level of
support to the medical personnel, that patients and patient charges are
properly handled and that student health insurance is properly administered.

Provide guidelines for the establishment
of policies and procedures for the operation of the facilities and programs
to ensure high quality to users.

Assures the efficient management
of the University Housing to enhance the overall image and to provide high
occupancy levels.

Maintains profitable, but competitive
remodeling service.

Ensures a high cost quality,
cost effective services are available at reasonable prices to the UT Houston
user community.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable
laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration or related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
10 years administrative experience
in business operations. Knowledgeable of rules, regulations, and
statues under the Board of Regents and the State of Texas with regards
to the operation, record keeping, and reporting for Auxiliary enterprises.
