Campus Architect and Planner, Senior Staff Assistant, Sustainability Officer, Assistant Director, Building Services, and Communications Officers

POSITION SUMMARY:

Ensure and manages all activities regarding the planning and construction of new Health Science Center physical facilities and our sustainability initiative.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Provides excellent customer service to the University community as documented by data in annual survey process.
  2. Leads, organizes and facilitates the processes, which constitute the new Facility Planning process. 
  3. Develops, implements and manages the new Facilities Planning processes, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with institutional, regent, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  4. Introduces, educates, and advocates the principles of sustainable development and the Natural Step to the institution, The University of Texas System, the State of Texas, and the general population.
  5. Develop plans, budgets, and management information with others that provide maximal services for minimum cost to ensure the material needs of the Health Science Center are met in a cost effective manner.
  6. Advocates the integration of sustainability principles into the design, construction and operation of new and existing facilities of the Health Science Center.
  7. Plans, organizes and implements monitoring procedures for the delivery of services to ensure the goals and objectives of the customers are met.
  8. Develops, plans and budgets to provide management with maximum information to develop new facilities at an effective life cycle cost and maximum efficiency.
  9. Ensures that system, state and federal rules and regulations regarding facilities are followed to ensure that University operations are conducted in the most ethical and legal manner possible.
  10. Promotes the application of new technology the facilities planning and development processes to ensure the continued technological advancement of the Health Science Center.
  11. Reviews, advises, and signs as requested on contracts and checks to facilitate the process and to ensure compliance with all applicable institutional, regent, state and federal policies and procedures.
  12. Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning. 
  13. Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or public administration

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

10 years directly related experience; experience with state supported institution of higher education preferred.
