POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting
institutional decision-making and planning and institutional effectiveness
efforts. Develops and implements a systematic approach to the collection
of data, conducting surveys and studies related to academic programs and
academic and student support services. Provides statistical and research
study design support for faculty in each of the six schools.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Performs comparative analyses
with national data resources.

Assists university administration
and the six schools of UT-Houston in achieving and validating excellence
through systematic evaluation of academic programs and educational support
services.

Utilizes institutional databases
to identify key variables in determining student performance and success
in academic programs.
-
Works collaboratively with the
Planning Office to collect data, assess trends and develop evaluation tools
that support strategic planning and institutional effectiveness efforts.

Provides support to the schools
on assessment needs related to institutional accreditation and accreditation
of specific academic programs by specialized accrediting bodies such as
the Association of American Medical Colleges Liaison Committee on Medical
Education or American Dental Association of Dental Accreditation.

Monitors and supports institutional
compliance with SACS accreditation guidelines.

Assures compliance with all
university, state, federal reporting requirements including those of PIEDS
and SACS.

Develops and prepares written
and Web-based reports for both internal and external constituents for the
purposes of describing, documenting and publishing institutional information
and measures of effectiveness

Manages Human Resources activities
of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination,
training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance
evaluations, and salary planning.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and compliance with
applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Works independently and collaboratively
with faculty and departments developing designs for clinical research studies.

Works independently and collaboratively
with faculty and departments developing plans of analyses for clinical
research studies. Provides clinical research support to faculty not already
receiving statistical or research study design support from other institution
components.

Performs statistical testing
and analyses for clinical research studies.

Other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Statistical software packages,
particularly SAS and SPSS. Must be qualified for a faculty appointment
at one of the component schools
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Doctorate degree in a research
related field or its equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Six years of directly related
experience in a higher education setting. Experience must include quantitative
and qualitative research design and processes and experience with integrated
data management systems, electronic spreadsheets, graphics programs, databases
and word processing.
