PPOSITION SUMMARY:
Oversees and directs public
relations and development activities for the Graduate School of Biomedical
Sciences (GSBS).
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provides overall direction and
monitoring of public relations and development for the Graduate School
of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) to ensure increased public awareness of the
GSBS as evidenced by: (1) increase in quality of entering students; (2)
advancement of ranking of the GSBS in national surveys; and (3) increase
in private funding to GSBS.

Nurtures current donors to increase
private funding for GSBS. Identifies and solicits potential donors.

Reconciles revenues and expenditures
of private accounts. Determines how solicited funds will be used
and monitors accounts. Participates in decisions regarding expenditure
of private funds in conjunction with the Dean and Associate Dean of GSBS.

Develops a focused public relations
marketing plan on both a national and international level to develop and
promote awareness of GSBS and to improve the ranking of GSBS

Initiates public relations events
and establishes and maintains contacts with media sources. Writes
newsletters to students and alumni.

Assists the Dean, Associate
and Assistant Deans with the development of the long-term plan, the Annual
Report and Operating Plan and with writing position papers.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded; financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable
laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Exceptional interpersonal
skills. Basic computer literacy is required and knowledge of desktop
publishing is desirable. A basic understanding of financial spreadsheets
is required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree and eight
years of professional experience in areas compatible with public relations
and development.
