POSITION SUMMARY:
Accurately records, tracks
and reports UTHSC-Houston’s capital and controlled assets and ensures compliance
with State of Texas Regulations. Serves as a representative in the UT System
Property Managers Council and the State Property Accounting Users Group
who focus on initiating change, developing practitioner’s standards and
promoting education in the area of property management.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ensures accurate recording,
recognition, and tracking of capital assets to maintain accurate records
of equipment including acquisitions, depreciation, and surplus.

Manages designation of items
as "surplus" and coordinates sales of such items through surplus auctions
to maximize monies gained through such sales.

Prepares annual physical inventory
to assess accuracy of inventory records and make necessary updates.

Prepares annual financial report
schedules and special inventory reports to aid management in various aspects
of decision-making and comply with rules set forth by the State Comptroller.

Manages Human Resources activities
for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and
termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling,
performance evaluations, and salary planning.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable
laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Exceptional interpersonal
and technical skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree with at
least 30 hours of Accounting.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
5 year experience in accounting.
