POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops, plans and produces
publications for UT-Houston and other printed materials such as brochures,
leaflets and posters that are designed for communicating important ideas,
concepts and facts to the University's various publics in ways that will
inform them and advance UT-Houston. Manages the internal communications
for UT-Houston and expands the use of electronic communications for both
internal and external audiences.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Plans and develops budgets for
activities whose communication to both internal and external audiences
support the mission of the UT-Houston Health Science Center.

Plan, develop and produce a
magazine to promote UT- Houston.

Produces and improve written
communications to provide improved relations and visibility for the Health
Science Center.

Produces Monday Morning
to provide an internal communication tool.

Promotes and coordinates use
of electronic communications, particularly the internet, to improve internal
communications and external visibility for UT- Houston.

Manages Human Resources activities
for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and
termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling,
performance evaluations, and salary planning.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable
laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Working knowledge of publication
management and design.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree with major
coursework in Journalism or English.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
10 year of responsible experience
in writing and editing publication. 2 years supervisory experience.
