POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists and supports the Associate Dean for Management in coordinating, overseeing, planning and directing management services between the office of the Associate Dean for Management, Medical School Departments, Health Science Center and the Texas Medical Center regarding strategic planning, facilities planning, school operations, management reporting and the management of various dean's office special assignments.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Functions as the Medical School's liaison on all building management operations, construction and renovation projects, emergency response plan and space and facilities planning. 
  2. Interfaces frequently on day-to-day operating matters with the Medical School's principal business administrators and their representatives. 
  3. Consults with and provides advice and counsel to the Director of Management Operations and other Administrative personnel within the Medical School on a broad range of business related matters.
  4. Represents supervisor in a variety of settings including providing overall coordination for the office as well as for the professional consultants who may be engaged for school wide projects or dispatched to all the schools on behalf of UT-H. 
  5. Exercises signature authority on behalf of the Associate Dean for Management in his absence.
  6. Monitors school’s responsibilities in space and equipment management. Supports Health Science Center staff in the design and construction or remodeling of Medical School space and acts as the school’s liaison on such projects. This will include participation and coordination of Space allocation and Space and Facilities planning. Space allocation is monitored through a computerized data base inventory.
  7. Coordinates the school’s resource management and planning which includes the management and operation of the Medical School and Recreation Center (MSRC). Resource management involves developing and implementing strategic plans, the annual operating plan linked to the budgetary cycle, and the annual management report for the medical school.
  8. Designs and completes special data gathering and management reporting projects required by the Medical School Administration. Such projects would include: participation in the Liaison Committee on Medical Education site visit preparation; the development of a space master plan for the Medical School Building; and, assisting with requests to the Permanent University Fund request. 
  9. Provides support and assistance to various Medical School Committees by providing research and information regarding policies, precedents and data gathering and analysis.
  10. Manages Human Resources activities in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  11. Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
 

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in business or a related field with a CPA or MBA preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five years directly related work experience.
