POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates the design and
implementation of academic information systems as they relate to the academic
mission of the University as a whole.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Oversees the overall technical
operations of Academic Computing with regards to systems, networking, programming,
services, and support, IT security, database management and documentation.

Coordinates with Network Services
the design and operation of the wide are network (WAN) to insure that the
WAN infrastructure of the university and the LAN infrastructure of the
schools is adequate to meet the academic missions of the University.

Designs and coordinates the
operation of directory services in collaboration with Network Services
to insure that they meet the needs for the authentication, authorization,
and application sharing as required by academic computing applications.

Determine the computational
hardware and software required to provide the server functions required
by the Office of Academic Computing as it meets the mission responsibilities.

Oversees the operation of the
Office of Academic Computing’s (OAC) servers and manage the systems support
staff.

Coordinates the security efforts
within the OAC with those of the Security Department in Information Services.

Manages Human Resources activities
for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and
termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling,
performance evaluations, and salary planning.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable
laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Certified Information Systems
Security Professional (CISSP) or Global Information Assurance Certification
(GIAC)
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree in a science
field, computing, or information technology; Masters in Computer Science
preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
7 years as a professional
in information technology and computer applications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exerts up to 10 pounds of
force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently to move objects.
