POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for ongoing assessments,
recommendations and annual reports on the informational needs of each discipline,
module, center and satellite in the School of Public Health.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provides advanced professional
analytical and research skills to identify informational resources and
processes required to support faculty research and teaching at the School
of Public Health.

Ensures the continuation of
research into information sciences developments, applications, and procedural
and policy implications, including determination of interfaces with SPH
computer services and other UT informational services as required.

Responsible for the ongoing
assessment and recommendation of student informational needs and service
delivery alternatives.

Participates on UTH informational
sciences committees as determined by the associate deans.

Compiles the annual compilation
of an Information Sciences Review, which will form part of the Annual Report
and the annual updating of the school’s Strategic Plan.

Performs independent research
and makes recommendations to the Associate Deans concerning technical developments
and alternatives for information systems applications.

Maintains contact with recognized
professional and scientific associations, UT System, Texas Medical Center,
and the City of Houston to provide the associate deans with optimal understanding
of the rapidly changing information environment, policy and the implications
of research and teaching.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and applicable laws,
regulations, policies and procedures are complied with.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
-
Extensive knowledge of automated
data base systems.

Comprehensive understanding
of the academic and administrative structure of the School of Public Health
preferred.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Masters degree in Library
Science, information science or archives.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Seven years of appropriate
professional experience.
