POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the direction and/or
project management for the analysis, design, development, oversight and
implementation of new or enhanced business processes in support of research
information systems and technology. Provides consultant/liaison type services
to all areas under the Assistant Vice President for Research Administration
and provides assistance and direction to those support functions contributing
to the overall financial and administrative operations of the department.
Manages budgetary and personnel for Research Administration.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Analyzes current business processes and
existing information systems to ensure an understanding of the current
environment and the information technology needs.

Provide consulting services and coordinate
information technology needs across units to ensure efficient and effective
use of automated systems across the research enterprise.

Prepares business cases including cost/benefit
analysis for proposed processes to ensure the most cost effective solutions.

Oversees the design and development of
automated solutions and systems to ensure adherence to internal policies
and procedures and compliance related issues.

Design, develop and implement reports
and training programs to provide the units within Research Administration
enhanced tools to assist them in their daily operations.

Coordinate with other information systems
staff to incorporate specialized expertise and ensure the most efficient
use of information technology resources.

Serve as the liaison between the different
units within Research Administration to provide assistance and direction,
and to facilitate effective and clear communication to assist in the achievement
of the overall goals and responsibilities of the research enterprise. Interfaces
with members of Information Services, the Office of Academic Computing
and other information technology systems staff across campus to coordinate
the implementation and support of new systems.

Mentors, cross trains, provides advice
and counsel, and shares information and institutional history with other
staff within Research Administration to encourage continuous learning and
skill development and a broad based knowledge of all areas within research
administration.

Prepares operating budgets, operating
plans and management reports, and evaluates expenditures and related activities
involving various fund sources within Research Administration to insure
compliance with University policies and procedures, facilitate efficient
and effective use of resources, and provide accurate and timely management
information.

Responsible for the design, execution
and effectiveness of a system of internal controls, which provides reasonable
assurance that: operations are effective and efficient; assets are safeguarded;
and financial information is reliable. Complies with applicable laws, regulations,
policies, and procedures.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Proficient use of computers and computer
systems.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration,
Management Information Systems or business related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Ten years of experience performing
the duties described above with business functions, processes, and information
systems to include five years of experience in a management/lead role,
preferably with budgetary responsibility.
