POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing
assistance, direction and support to the research efforts of UT-H faculty.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Identifies research interests
of faculty members and determines research directions and monetary capabilities
of external funding sources
-
Maintains a library of funding
materials in hard-copy format and resources on the Internet to provide
a central source of information.

Performs computerized fund searches
of database for faculty to identify potential funding sources.
-
Maintains a current database
and provides reports on faculty research and sponsored projects.
-
Conducts "Welcome Wagon" visits
to new faculty to gather data for inclusion in faculty database and to
ascertain research interests and funding needs.

Creates and maintains the Grant
Pre-Award Server that provides funding information and forms.
-
Provides a monthly newsletter
on funding opportunities and agency deadlines.
-
Co-presents two annual seminars
to faculty educating them on the most advantageous methods of proposal
preparation.

Publishes an animal brochure;
Catalog of Research Expertise (CORE); and a Grant Handbook to promote research
and guide faculty in the grant process.

Plans, develops, implements
and evaluates the annual budgets.

Manages Human Resources activities
of the department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination,
training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance
evaluations, and salary planning.

Responsible for the design,
execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides
reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and compliance with
applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

No certification required.

Understanding of Federal and
Private contracts and grants process and procedures.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or its
equivalent; master’s degree or its equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Seven years of relevant experience
with a Bachelor’s degree; OR
Five years of relevant experience
with a Master’s degree. Experience should include five years of relevant
experience in a sponsored programs office.
