Maastricht
The Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research (CHPPR),
directed by Guy Parcel, PhD, has formal collaborative agreements
with the Queensland University of Technology in Australia and the
University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. These collaborations
involve several center investigators and serve to enhance the research
capacity of the Center.
At Queensland University of Technology, CHPPR investigators have
taught courses on epidemiology, patient education and health promotion
intervention mapping. Center investigators are also collaborating
on several research projects in Australia.
At the University of Maastricht, CHPPR investigators have led summer
courses/seminars on health promotion intervention mapping, patient
education, diffusion of innovations, statistical methods and school
health promotion. Center investigators have collaborated on several
research projects resulting in over 25 publications. There has also
been an international exchange of faculty and students. A significant
product from this cooperation between the CHPPR and the University
of Maastricht is the development of the textbook for intervention
mapping with contributions from faculty from both institutions.
The theory and methodology detailed in this text is a promising
innovation in the field of health education and health promotion
and is already taught to students and health promotion experts in
the Netherlands as well as the US.
