About the Directory

Vital Stats

  • The directory can search by approximate match, so you don't need to get the spelling exactly right!
  • Only one search field is used -- the one next to the submit button you press.
  • Enter names in the form "firstname lastname" instead of "lastname, firstname". The comma has a special meaning -- see next item.
  • you can search a particular area by adding it after your search terms, like name, medical school. This works for the Search by Department too, e.g. finance, medical school.
  • Typing a phone number or part of a phone number (such as 2-5022) in All or Faculty/Staff fields will return entries matching that phone number.
  • Under the room number field, only valid building abbreviations yield successful searches. You must use an asterisk unless you know the exact full building/room number, e.g. MSB* or MSB G.100.
  • departmental search matches on the field name as entered in BPPS, e.g. Academic Computing. Asterisks can really help here.
  • You can browse the directory by selecting the link before the text entry field.
  • At the State and Country levels, the default search is for an organization, not a person, an only searches that level.
