Practice Reading Accuracy and Fluency

This page will give you a chance to practice administering the word list and placing the student into an instructional level text.

For printing a paper copy of the task before beginning, click here. After you print your practice paper copy, press the button below to listen to the student's reading of the words. Listen carefully to the student's reading and mark any words miscalled. Score 1 point if the student correctly says the word. Score 0 points for an incorrect response. Then follow the directions given below and select the story that is appropriate for evaluating reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension. Click on your choice to receive feedback about your decision on the student's story placement and to continue with practicing the reading accuracy and fluency tasks.

Criteria for Story Placement

If 0-3 words were read correctly, use Reading Comprehension Story 1 - The Sun
If 4-6 words were read correctly, use Reading Comprehension Story 2 - At the Pond
If 7 words were read correctly, use Reading Comprehension Story 3 - Carla Makes Tacos
If 8 words were read correctly, use Reading Comprehension Story 4 - Will & the Skunks
If 9-15 words were read correctly, use Reading Comprehension Story 5 - Feeling Lazy
