GENETICS CORE LAB

A Genetics Core Lab was incorporated into the GCRC in 2001 to stimulate new research and collaborations involving DNA sequencing and genotyping. GCRC investigators, as well as other scientists throughout the UTHSC-H system, have access to equipment and software housed at the GCRC Genetics Core Lab. Additionally, the Genetics Core Lab staff has the expertise to collect, analyze and store data from biological materials.

Under the direction of the Medical Genetics Division & Genetics Core Lab Director, Dianna Milewicz, and the Lab’s Assistant Director, Dongchuan Guo, the Core Lab has been quite successful and productive in the research of several genetic defects. It has proven to be a centralized, efficient and cost effective resource for providing molecular technology and research to expand the scope of clinical research projects.

The Genetics Core Lab provides the following services to investigators:
• DNA harvesting and banking
• DNA genotyping
• DNA sequencing
• Genetic statistical analysis
