Research Director

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is seeking a Research Director to be appointed as the department’s first Nancy, Clive, and Pierce Runnells Distinguished Professorship in Emergency Medicine. Located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world, the department has a fully accredited three-year residency training program with 30 residents, serves two hospitals (including a Level 1 trauma center), and approximately 140,000 patients annually. The department’s research foci include stroke and cardiovascular systems, trauma and EMS, ultrasound, bioinformatics and simulation. The position provides a full-time staff including a grants/contract specialist, research associates, and secretarial support. Startup and bridging resources are available to the well qualified candidate.

The candidate must possess the qualifications sufficient for appointment to the rank of Associate or full Professor. The applicant should have a proven track record of publications and grant awards, demonstrate research operations expertise including long and short term strategic planning, conduct junior faculty and resident mentoring, and possess excellent marketing skills. The successful candidate shall receive a very competitive remuneration package including substantial protected time to develop the research interests of the department’s mission and to promote these interests nationally and abroad.
