Patricia
Averill
is an Assistant Professor at the UT-Medical School at Houston
where she provides instruction on clinical psychology, and
provides critical assessment and evaluation for patients at
UTHCPC.
She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the
University of Houston, where she graduated summa cum laude
in 1987. She continued her graduate education at UH, where
she received her masters (1991) and doctorate (1993) degrees
in clinical psychology. Averill served her residency at the
University of Texas Medical School at Houston, followed by
a post-doctoral fellowship at UT-Houston's Hermann Pain Center
in 1993-94. She joined the UT Medical School at Houston in
1994.
Averill is an active member of several professional organizations,
including the American Psychological Association and the Association
for the Advancement of Behavior Therapy, and serves as Operations
Officer for the Houston Psychological Association.
Additionally, she is a member of the Association of Women
Psychiatrists, Greater Houston Council of Family Violence
and Hispanic Physicians of Houston. She has received numerous
academic awards, including the Houston Psychological Association
award for outstanding psychology graduate and is a member
of the Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma and Psi Chi honor societies.
She also has served as a member of several graduate school
committees, including the review committee for the Dean of
the University of Houston's Honors College and chair of the
doctoral dissertation committee for psychology students at
UH.
