Andrew Harper, M.D., is an associate professor at the UT-Medical School at Houston where he provides instruction on childhood disorders and behavioral problems. He also serves as chief of child and adolescent services at UT-Harris County Psychiatric Center.
 
Harper received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1980. He continued his graduate education at the UT-Medical School at Houston where he received his medical degree in 1984. He pursued his residency training in general psychiatry and child adolescent psychiatry at the UT-Medical School at Houston, including serving as chief resident. Board certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
 
He joined the UT-Medical School at Houston as an assistant professor in 1988. Since 1996, he has served as the assistant dean for Educational Programs.
 
Harper is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Texas Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Physicians. He has published numerous articles discussing the law and psychiatry. In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Harper helped develop a telemedicine/teleeducation project at UTHCPC.
