Time clocks aid in monitoring staffing levels and ensuring that proper levels of care are met.
The time clocks are utilized to ensure accurate attendance and payroll record keeping. UT-HCPC
uses time clocks with biometric scanners: employees log in their employee numbers and scan their
identified finger pressure points registered in the time clock system.
The time clock rounds to the nearest quarter hour.

Time Clock Requirements |
Exempt |
Clock in at the beginning of each scheduled shift. Result: Automatically credited for eight hours Note: Supervisors dock an exempt employee's appropriate accrued leave balance when the exempt employee does not work 8-hours per day or 40-hours per week. Exempt employees cannot be docked pay unless their accrual balances are exhausted or they are ineligible to utilize accruals during the initial waiting period. |
Non-exempt |
Clock in at the beginning of each scheduled shift and clock out at the end of each scheduled shift. In addition: Supervisors may require their employees to clock in and out for meal periods. |
Employees failing to clock in or out for any reason must notify their supervisor or the in-house supervisor immediately.
Pay status: Pay status of that shift does not commence until you notify the supervisor.
Delay of pay: Failure to clock in or out for any reason may result in a delay of pay for that shift until the next pay period.
