Policy
The Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC) expects staff and any outsourced provider  responsible for patient billing to maintain a current operational knowledge of the laws, policies, rules and procedures which apply their job responsibilities.  Special emphasis should be given to training in Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement principals, billing fraud, abuse, and ethics.

Procedure

HCPC Staff:

1. Staff with patient billing responsibility are required to attend class(s) designed to maintain current operational knowledge of the laws, policies, rules and procedures with direct application to their job responsibilities.
2. Staff with patient billing responsibility will submit annually with performance evaluations a listing of training attended since the previous evaluation period.

Outsource Provider:

1. Site Director will provide a listing of training provided to local staff on an annual basis to the Director, Financial Operations.
