Training
The department supervisors, or their designees, will train all Food
Service and Housekeeping personnel assigned the task of garbage removal.
Training will include:
- how to load the compactor
- how
to remove compacted bundles
- how to properly carry bundles of
trash receptacles
Training will be based on the manufacturer’s
manual of operations. Time of Compactor Operation
Seven days a week from 7:00 am – 9:00 pm
Safety
A laminated list of items that can and cannot be put on the compactor
will be posted on the compactor. A copy of the operational and specs
manual will be issued to the Food Services and Housekeeping departments.
Sanitation
The compactor will be cleaned as per manufacturer’s specifications.
The location of the compactor will also be cleaned on a daily basis along
with the mopping, drain, and stainless steel housing. The area will also
be added to the schedule for pest control.
Maintenance
Facilities Management will be responsible for preventive and routine
maintenance. Compactor maintenance will be added to the QBIC inventory.
Operations and Costs
The loading of trash to the compactor will be the responsibility of
Food Services and Housekeeping personnel. The removal of trash bales,
and transport to outside dumpsters, will be shared by Food Services and
Housekeeping personnel on a monthly basis. A laminated schedule will
be posted next to the compactor.The cost of trash bags is to be shared
by both departments.
