 | Acts as a consultant regarding the purchase of all equipment and supplies used for disinfection and decontamination purposes

 | Provides education/consultation services to nursing, housekeeping, and other personnel as necessary |

Surveillance activities

 | Coordinates surveillance activities
|
 | Investigates clusters and/or unusual nosocomial infections
|

Investigated needlestick events |
 | Coordinates and reports to necessary public health authorities |

Control activities
|
 | Designs, implements, and coordinates strategies to combat clusters and/or unusual nosocomial infections
|
 | Acts as the Employee Health Liaison/Coordinator in a consulting and referring role in cases of on-the-job exposure to infectious diseases |

Reporting
|
Reports hospital infections to the Infection Control Committee using information gathered from the following:

 | Surveillance protocols approved by the committee |
