This topic provides guidelines for disposing of resuscitation masks with airways and non-rebreathing valves after use.

Disposal process

The nursing staff member follows these steps to dispose of a used resuscitation mask with airways and non-rebreathing valve:

Put on disposable rubber gloves.

2

Remove the mask and accessories from the patient.

3

Dispose of the mask and accessories in the red bag.

4

Remove the disposable rubber gloves.

5

Discard the used gloves in the same red bag.

6

Wash hands after removing gloves.
