A UT Admission is a direct admission from the University of Texas (UT) Department
of Psychiatry to UTHCPC.
UT admissions to UTHCPC can be approved by one of the following:
 | The Medical Director |
| The Executive Director |
| A designated surrogate if both of the above are unavailable |
| An attending physician on call after 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends and holidays |
The UTHCPC approval authority may approve a UT admit through a UT Psychiatry faculty member who discusses the issue by phone or in person.
The UT patient must meet one of the following criteria to be approved:
| Is an active UT Psychiatry patient |
| Will be followed post-discharge by UT Psychiatry |
| Is a candidate for an UTHCPC research protocol and meets UTHCPC admitting criteria |
The approving physician must notify the Patient Registration clinician on duty when a proposed patient has been approved.
